John and Tracy Houston started building in 2005 with a handful of employees and a stated mission to "help people find their way home." Twenty years on, John Houston Homes is owned by its 100-plus team members, builds hundreds of homes a year across four Texas market areas and 40-plus communities, and ranks among the top builders in the United States. The stated values are Generous Love, 2nd Mile Service, a Relentless Pursuit of Excellence, and Honest Communication, and the company pairs local giving with ministry-driven global partnerships. In Central Texas the product skews larger than the corridor average — most communities are quarter-acre to full-acre homesites, and the Temple community, Valor Estates, is 3/4-acre lots with side-entry garages.
